Philippines' ERC Proposes VAT Removal on System Loss Charges

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in the Philippines is proposing the removal of value-added tax (VAT) on "system loss" charges in electricity bills, aiming to reduce the financial burden on consumers by approximately P6 billion annually. However, electric cooperatives express concerns that absorbing the full cost of system losses could jeopardize their financial stability.
