Mawlamyine University Entrance Exam Outstanding Students Honored

An award ceremony was held at No. 1 High School, located on Byar Naung Road, Ward 4, Mawlamyine, Karen State, around 10 AM on September 4th, to honor students who achieved distinctions in three, two, or one subject, as well as those who passed all subjects in the 2025/2026 academic year university entrance examinations. In the 2025/2026 academic year university entrance examinations, 40 students who achieved outstanding results, including two students with distinctions in three subjects, and 8 high school teachers who provided excellent instruction in their respective subjects were honored. Initially, U Saw Wah Lwe Htoo, the Mawlamyine District Education Officer, and U Myo Aung, the Chairman of the School Trustees, delivered speeches at the ceremony. Following this, U Aung Myint, the Headmaster of Mawlamyine No. 1 High School, and one of the students who achieved distinctions in three subjects, delivered words of thanks. Subsequently, U Saw Wah Lwe Htoo, the Mawlamyine District Education Officer, U Saw Min Khin, the Deputy District Education Officer, U Aung Myint, the Headmaster of Mawlamyine No. 1 High School, U Myo Aung, the Chairman of the School Trustees, and other responsible officials presented cash prizes and certificates of honor to the students who achieved outstanding results in the university entrance examinations. Following this, Daw Thein Thein Shwe, a member of the School Trustees and a senior advocate, and her family, presented cash prizes of 50,000 kyats each to the 40 students who achieved outstanding results in the university entrance examinations and to the 8 high school teachers who provided excellent instruction in their respective subjects. Daw Kyi Kyi Sein, a member of the School Trustees, presented cash prizes of 50,000 kyats each to the 8 high school teachers who provided excellent instruction in their respective subjects. Furthermore, a parent of a student presented cash prizes of 100,000 kyats each to the 8 high school teachers. In the 2025/2026 academic year university entrance examinations, a total of 116 students from Mawlamyine No. 1 High School took the exam. Among them, 40 students passed, including 2 students with distinctions in three subjects, 1 student with distinctions in two subjects, and 4 students with distinctions in one subject. The pass rate was 34.48%. Although the pass rate has increased compared to the previous year, it was learned that students, teachers, parents, the School Trustees, and relevant authorities will continue to focus on improving the pass rate this year.
