Two Houses in Phnom Penh's Chroy Changvar District Completely Destroyed by Fire, Cause Under Investigation

A fire completely destroyed two residential houses in Kien Khleang village, Chroy Changvar commune, Chroy Changvar district, Phnom Penh, on September 1, 2026, at approximately 5:57 PM. According to eyewitnesses, flames and thick smoke were seen billowing from the houses. Residents attempted initial firefighting efforts, but strong winds on the day, coupled with the construction of some buildings being wood with corrugated iron roofs, caused the fire to spread rapidly. Realizing the fire was beyond their control, residents reported the incident to the authorities, who dispatched fire brigades to the scene. A total of 24 fire trucks from the Phnom Penh Municipal Fire Department, Chroy Changvar District Administration, and Chroy Changvar City Fire Department were deployed to combat the blaze. The fire resulted in the complete destruction of two houses and damage to the walls of one additional structure. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the incident.
