Do Quoc Hung Appointed Director of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music

On the afternoon of July 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music held a ceremony to announce and present a decision regarding personnel affairs. At the ceremony, the organizing committee announced the decision of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the assignment and appointment of the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. According to the decision, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned and appointed Mr. Do Quoc Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, to hold the position of Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music for a term of 5 years. At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong congratulated Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung on his appointment as Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. Besides congratulating the new leadership, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music must innovate its training and enrollment strategies and strengthen international cooperation in the coming time to adapt to the new resolutions of the Party and State. The school needs to perfect its organizational apparatus and supplement human resources with full-time lecturers to ensure the school's sustainable development and competitiveness. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung expressed his honor and emotion upon receiving the decision to be assigned the task of Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. This is not only a milestone marking the development journey of People's Artist Quoc Hung's career but, more importantly, a great responsibility to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to the collective of staff, lecturers, and students of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung believes that the development of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in the next phase depends on the strength and solidarity, the spirit of innovation, and the dedication of each official, lecturer, and learner. "I believe that with its glorious tradition and strong aspiration to reach the future, the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music will conquer new heights, contributing deservedly to the cultural and artistic development of the city named after Uncle Ho and the country," said Dr. People's Artist Do Quoc Hung. Before being assigned and appointed as Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Dr. People's Artist Quoc Hung held the positions of Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Deputy Director of the Academy, Deputy Head and then Head of the Vocal Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music. Born in 1970 in Dong Anh (Hanoi), Dr. People's Artist Quoc Hung began his journey at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (predecessor of the Vietnam National Academy of Music) in 1991. He has dedicated more than three decades to studying, teaching, performing, and contributing to the country's largest music training cradle. As one of the leading baritone singers in Vietnam, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung won first prize in the National Chamber Music and Opera Singing Competition in 2000, received the Golden Cup at the Pyongyang International Music Festival in 2004, and has extensive international performance experience in Germany, North Korea, Russia, etc. He was invited to stay as an artist at the Hannover State Opera House (Germany) after training and performing there in 1998, but chose to return to Vietnam to continue his teaching career and contribute to national art. Beyond performance, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung also pays special attention to scientific research. The book "Training Opera Singers in Vietnam," the result of his doctoral research, is considered a rare academic resource in this field in Vietnam.
