Cambodian NA President's Vietnam Visit to Deepen Bilateral Ties

The upcoming official visit to Vietnam by President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary from July 27 to 29 is expected to provide an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation, particularly parliamentary diplomacy, and chart new directions to further deepen bilateral relations, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu has said In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents in Phnom Penh. Especially amid complexities in relations with China, strengthening cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is strategically important for Vietnam. Furthermore, the recovery of remains of over 1,000 fallen Vietnamese soldiers from Cambodia suggests shared past tragedies and efforts towards peaceful resolution. This could also serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the bonds between the peoples of both nations. Through this visit, both countries are expected to discuss further expansion of economic cooperation, enhanced collaboration in infrastructure development, and coordination on regional security.
