Student Protest in Central Jakarta Concludes, Traffic Restrictions Lifted

A demonstration by students from the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, concluded around 5:55 PM on Friday. Following the protest's end, traffic restrictions towards Gambir Station were lifted, allowing vehicles to pass. The protesters, who had initially gathered in front of the BSI building, moved to a designated area as instructed by the police. The police removed barricades at 5:58 PM, reopening the road from Patung Kuda (Horse Statue) towards Gambir Station. Towards the end of the demonstration, students were seen distributing bread, which was accepted by passing motorcyclists. During the protest, orators on a command vehicle voiced demands for a complete overhaul of the state governance system, the salvation of Indonesian education, and the sovereignty of civil society. One speaker stated, "Our demands are general, but this action will continue and will shake the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet."
