The APSARA Authority in Cambodia has distributed nearly 15,000 diverse saplings free of charge to citizens, state institutions, and private entities, aiming to boost forest cover and promote environmental protection across the nation.
The APSARA Authority has continued its initiative to distribute a total of 14,738 diverse saplings free of charge to state institutions, private entities, and the general public, with the aim of increasing forest cover in Cambodia. The saplings were provided from June 25 to July 6, 2026. These included: 1. 1,000 saplings for Nom Yea at Wat Reachea Yot Naram (O'Prasath Pagoda) in Banteay Meanchey province, comprising 300 Dhong, 100 Chres, 200 Beng, 200 Tial, and 200 Kukir trees. 2. 250 saplings for Chum Rith, director of Bayon High School in Siem Reap province, including 100 Dhong, 100 Beng, and 50 Kukir trees. 3. 10,000 saplings for the AEON Environmental Foundation to be planted in the Angkor AEON Nature Park within the Angkor resort area. These included 1,000 Knhoung, 500 Beng, 1,000 Dhong, 1,000 Chres, 500 Kukir, 500 Kakoh, 1,000 Tial, 300 Rang Phnom, 100 Phtiak, 300 Wild Jackfruit, 200 Peacock, 300 Khnar, 200 Chamri, 200 Indranil, 200 Pokul, 200 Rumduol, 500 Neem, and 2,000 Water Rang. 4. 748 saplings for residents in Siem Reap province, including individuals like Hut Bopir, Roun Sombath, Sokheng, Ket Sokhaengny, Mok Mengly, Mut Chhoeun, and Oem Ratha, to be planted on private land, along roadsides, school grounds, and pagodas in various districts. The types included Dhong, Beng, Knhoung, Kukir, Tial, Pokul, Indranil, Cheung Kor, Angkaboros, Pram Tloeng, Wild Trapeang, Bo Prous, Ohngmony, Pnhiu, Peacock, and Rumduol. 5. 1,540 saplings for residents in Siem Reap province and Takeo province, including Eng Oeuy, Hab Kim An, Yam Phirun, Chim Livai, and Son Sambath, for planting on private land, roadsides, school grounds, and pagodas. The types included Dhong, Beng, Chres, Kukir, Tial, Kuy, Indranil, Sir Man, Neem, Bo Prous, Ohngmony, Peacock, and Rumduol. 6. 1,200 saplings for distribution to residents in Run Ta Ek Techo Sen town and for planting within the Angkor resort area.
