Myanmar produced over 900,000 pearls in five months of the new fiscal year

According to the Myanma Pearl Enterprise, over 900,000 pearls were produced from April to August of the 2026-2027 fiscal year. There are a total of 13 pearl farming stations, including the state-owned Pearl Island, and it is said that operations are being carried out by township and district within the entire water area suitable for pearl farming, which lies between Kyunsu Township, Kawthaung Township, and Myeik Township in Tanintharyi Region. Furthermore, it is reported that in terms of pearl export and sales, two international and two domestic sales events are planned and will be carried out annually according to the targets for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. In Myanmar, only Taung Pone (South Sea Pearls) are farmed, produced, and sold. It is reported that a plan to manage 100,000 pearls per Pearl Island has been established, and companies engaged in pearl farming and production are also expanding their operations.
