Phnom Penh Enhances Drainage System Cleaning Along Major Roadways Ahead of Rainy Season

Phnom Penh authorities are intensifying efforts to clean and maintain the drainage system along the major Road 294 within Boeung Keng Kang I district, ahead of the upcoming rainy season. The initiative aims to ensure smooth water flow and prevent road flooding. On September 9th, the administrative team of Boeung Keng Kang I district collaborated with the drainage system cleaning and maintenance team from the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Public Works and Transport to carry out operations along Road 294. This cleaning effort covers the section from Preah Norodom Boulevard to Preah Monivong Boulevard, spanning areas within the district's Villages 2, 5, and 6. According to the authorities, this intervention to clean and clear the drainage system is intended to remove accumulated waste, mud, and garbage, thereby enhancing the efficiency of water discharge. The goal is to promptly alleviate rainwater flooding on the roads. Local authorities have also appealed to residents living along the aforementioned road and all travelers to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness, disposing of waste properly, and avoiding the dumping of any waste into the drainage system.
