Pyu Saw Htee member involved in the massacre of revolutionary comrades and civilians in Layma Village, Gangaw Township, arrested alive

YANGON, July 6 A member of the Pyu Saw Htee who participated in the operation to massacre revolutionary comrades and civilians in Layma Village, Gangaw Township, Magway Region, was captured alive by the Black Dragon Force (Special Operations Unit), an official from the unit told Yangon Khit Thit Media. It is known that on July 6, around 10 AM, the Black Dragon Force unit entered and arrested Maung Chit Snow (aka Mae Gyi), a disciple of Pho Zaw, the leader of the Pyu Saw Htee, who was coming to a checkpoint at the entrance of Gangaw town. "We lured him out of town and captured him once he reached outside the town. He was alone. He is currently being detained by our unit and will be prosecuted according to the law," an official from the Black Dragon Force told Yangon Khit Thit Media. Black Dragon Force reported that the arrested Chit Snow (aka Mae Gyi) was found to have personally participated in the joint column of the military council and Pyu Saw Htee that brutally killed 11 civilians and revolutionary comrades, including 4 children, in Layma Village, Gangaw Township, on May 12, 2025. During the interrogation of the captured Pyu Saw Htee, he confessed that about 90 members of the military council and Pyu Saw Htee participated in the raid on Layma Village and that he himself was involved in the incident where revolutionary comrades were killed. "We entered Layma with about 90 forces. We killed revolutionary comrades there too," Pyu Saw Htee Chit Snow (aka Mae Gyi) testified. Furthermore, he testified that he had served as a guard at the "We Love Gangaw" checkpoint at the entrance of Gangaw town for about three months and had also accompanied convoys carrying supplies towards Ye Myan Ni village. "I accompanied the convoy to Ye Myan Ni once. There were many police and soldiers. The force was estimated to be around 89 people," he said. When questioned about the salary he received during his service for the military council and Pyu Saw Htee group, he confessed that he initially received 150,000 kyats per month, and later, when the unit changed, he received up to 200,000 kyats per month. "Initially, they paid 150,000 per month. Later, when the 50 unit came, they paid 200,000 per month," he testified. The arrested Chit Snow (aka Mae Gyi) is a resident of Kyaw Taik Ward, Gangaw Town, and his father is U Than Shwe. He also revealed the names of other Pyu Saw Htee members during the interrogation, stating that there are about 4 Pyu Saw Htee members in his ward. Black Dragon Force is currently holding the captured Chit Snow (aka Mae Gyi) in good condition and is continuing to investigate in detail the war crimes he committed, including the massacre of civilians in Layma Village.
