Typhoon No. 2 Weakens to Tropical Depression, Northern Vietnam to See Return of Rain from July 28

Typhoon No. 2, which passed through central Vietnam, has weakened into a tropical depression after making landfall in China's Guangdong province. Consequently, it is no longer expected to have a direct impact on mainland Vietnam. However, meteorological authorities have announced that northern Vietnam may experience rain again starting from July 28. This is attributed to moist air flowing into the northern regions due to the weakened tropical depression. As of July 26, Typhoon No. 2 had reached maximum wind speeds of category 16 and was approaching the Chinese coast, but no direct damage was reported within Vietnam. Weather forecasts for the night of July 27 and into July 28 had indicated a return of sunny spells in the north, but subsequent information predicts the return of rain. Under its one-party system, Vietnam continues to pursue economic growth, but preparedness for natural disasters remains a critical concern.
