YT (July 15) Amidst intense fighting between junta troops and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint forces in the southern part of Myawaddy township on the Thai-Myanmar border, seven civilians have lost contact with their families, according to a family member. All seven residents of Wa Mee village, including the driver and owner of a tractor, who left Wa Mee village by tractor to help tow an overturned car on the roadside, have been missing since July 10. All the missing persons are men, the oldest being 46 years old and the youngest only 14 years old. It is understood that the group went missing in the vicinity of Le Oakh, between the Karen National Police Force (KNPF) camp (Ye Gone), which is currently occupied by junta troops, and Hti Me Glah. "Now the roads are not good, so cars overturn frequently. And there are still many cars stuck on that road. These are cars returning loaded with goods from Myawaddy. The car overturned a few days ago. The driver is what we call 'Taw-wè'. He stayed overnight and then on Saturday (July 10), he hired my brother-in-law to tow the car. He said he would pay 10,000 baht, so people from the village also went along," said a family member of the missing person. Another family member said that based on inquiries made with their acquaintances, local authorities, and those close to the junta troops, there are reports that the missing persons have been arrested and killed by junta troops from Infantry Division (13) which is currently launching an offensive around Legyok and Phlu, Minlappon. Mizzima has not yet been able to independently confirm this. "We have only heard the news so far. We haven't seen any evidence," said a family member of the tractor owner, who is among the missing. The junta troops, in cooperation with the DKBA splinter group led by Bo Bo and the BGF, are launching ground offensives to recapture areas along Phlu and Minlappon controlled by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint forces. Consequently, fighting has intensified again since July 7, and the junta troops are fiercely resisting with air support and heavy artillery fire from their stationed regiments and bases, including Infantry Regiment (275).
