13-Year-Old Girl Missing for 5 Days After Being Lured Away by Motorcycle

A 13-year-old girl has been missing for five days in Cambodia's Battambang province after being lured away by an unknown young man on a motorcycle at night. Her mother has filed a police report, but no significant leads have emerged. The missing girl has been identified as Song Sreynoy, 13, residing in Snuol Kert village, Snuol commune, Banon district, Battambang province. According to her guardians, around 10:30 PM on September 9th, while she was on her way to buy dinner at the Snuol market, she was lured onto a motorcycle by a young man estimated to be around 20 years old. Her mother attempted to follow but lost sight of them quickly. She could not clearly recall the young man's face. Mr. Heng Bamrang, the Banon District Police Inspector, confirmed on the afternoon of September 14th that the police post had received the complaint from the victim's mother and had reported it to the specialized office for intervention. However, as of this date, no clues regarding the suspect have been found. Family members suggest that the girl might have been taken by her boyfriend, but her destination remains unknown. Ms. Chuem Sreynich, 36, the victim's mother, recounted that on the night of the incident, she asked her daughter to buy grilled chicken from the market. However, after leaving on her motorcycle, she did not return. Worried, the mother and her sister rode out to search for her. Upon reaching a junction leading to Chong Mean Chey commune and towards Pailin, they spotted their daughter being taken away on a motorcycle from a road in Preah Srae village onto National Road No. 57, heading towards Battambang. When the mother shouted, the motorcyclist turned back onto National Road No. 57 and sped towards Pailin province. The mother and sister continued to chase from behind. Ms. Chuem Sreynich further stated that as they were chasing, near the intersection in Rom Choei village, Snuol commune, the suspect turned off his motorcycle's lights. Coupled with oncoming car headlights, this caused them to lose sight of their daughter's motorcycle at that spot. They do not know where the man took her afterward, as they lost track at that corner. She confirmed that she could not clearly see the perpetrator's features but estimated the young man to be around 20 years old. Finally, she added that one day after her daughter's disappearance, around noon on September 10th, an acquaintance informed her that they had seen her daughter refueling a motorcycle at a gas station near the highway (towards Phnom Sampeau). Although the girl had no money, she borrowed 5,000 riels for gasoline. After refueling, her whereabouts became unknown. To date, she has tried to inquire everywhere, including among her daughter's school friends and the police, but has found no news. The motorcycle her daughter was riding is a black Honda Dream 125 with license plate Battambang 1AL-6981. Banon District Police Inspector Heng Bamrang also confirmed that his officers and personnel from the specialized office are disseminating information across districts and police posts, requesting assistance in spotting individuals matching the description.
