Singaporean Woman's Phnom Penh Arrival Deemed Voluntary by Cambodian Police

PHNOM PENH, Aug 1, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian police said a Singaporean woman who arrived in Phnom Penh last week was not a victim of trafficking or fraud, concluding she left Singapore voluntarily under family pressure and intended to seek work as an English teacher. Authorities identified the woman as Siti Aishah Siregar Binte Sahat Siregar, also known as Eve, who flew from Singapore on July 28 aboard Emirates flight EK348, arriving at Techo International Airport at 4:00 pm local time. Investigators said she had booked accommodation in advance at TK Lane Condominium through a Cambodian agent, Khun Sindika, and was met at the airport by a friend, Duong Sothea, a first-year student at the Institute of Foreign Languages whom she had known online since 2024. Duong told police he borrowed a friend’s Lexus RX330 to collect her, drove her to the condominium, and later accompanied her to buy supplies and visit tourist sites. The woman told investigators she had not informed her parents of her plans, describing them as strict, and left a letter for her family before departing Singapore. She said she had not been detained, abused or threatened since arriving in Cambodia. Police concluded there was no evidence she had been lured or trafficked, saying she travelled of her own free will and intended to seek employment as an English teacher.
