Thai Tourist Police Boost Airport Security to Protect International Visitors
Thailand's Tourist Police have intensified security measures at Suvarnabhumi Airport to enhance safety and confidence for both domestic and international travelers. This initiative, aligned with government and Ministry of Tourism and Sports policies, involves collaboration with K9 units and airport police for baggage checks, tourist assistance, and information dissemination.
The Tourist Police in Thailand have intensified security measures at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, aiming to enhance safety and build confidence among both domestic and international travelers. On July 17, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsayam Meekhanthong, Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, inspected the airport's passenger terminal and oversaw the deployment of tourist police officers. This operation aligns with government and Ministry of Tourism and Sports policies to improve tourist safety and provide assistance throughout the travel process. During the inspection, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsayam instructed officers to improve security measures and ensure convenient services for visitors arriving and departing through Suvarnabhumi Airport. Working in conjunction with Suvarnabhumi Airport officials, airport military officers, Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station officers, and K9 units, the tourist police conducted comprehensive checks across the passenger terminal. These included inspections of international baggage claim areas, assistance for tourists, K9 security screening, inbound and outbound tour operator checks, organization of public taxis, and passenger pick-up arrangements. Officers also distributed information about tourist assistance channels, such as the Thailand Tourist Police Application and the Tourist Police hotline 1155, to passengers and tour groups. Authorities stated that these measures are designed to create a safer travel environment and ensure visitors receive support throughout their stay in Thailand.
