Local residents told The Daily Eleven Media that house fires and deaths of cattle and buffaloes due to lightning strikes have occurred in several areas of Kachin State, upper Sagaing Region and northern Shan State. It is known that around 1 p.m. on September 16, amidst a storm with strong winds, 13 cattle sheltering under a tree near the Shwe Nan Htike Mineral Water Factory in the Duu Gauk Ward of Tanai Township, Kachin State, were struck by lightning and died. Some villagers said that on the night of September 10, a house in Nga Oh village, Mabein Township, northern Shan State, was struck by lightning and caught fire. It is also known that there were no casualties in the fire as there were no people inside the house. Local residents said that on the same night, cattle and buffaloes were struck by lightning and died in Pen Thachay village, Alen Seik group, Inn Daw Township, upper Sagaing Region. A local resident from Inn Daw Township said, "People had to hide and crouch under tents. It was struck dozens of times for over an hour. Since we live in the forest, our ears were ringing. Lightning frequently struck the trees. Those who are easily frightened might have a heart attack. It was like a battle is happening." Meteorologist U Htay Tint announced that due to the severe El Niño phenomenon, extreme heavy rainfall occurred in China, India, and Nepal, and it rained across Myanmar on September 10 and 11. He stated that heavy rains fell in Sagaing Region and northern Shan State. On August 26, 2022, two female clerks died in a fire at a motorcycle shop in Mogaung Town, Kachin State. On July 8, 2022, a tent in a field near Mogaung Town was struck by lightning, killing 24 cattle on the spot.
