Poverty Not Justification for Crime, Legal Expert States

An Indonesian legal expert has stated that poverty should not be considered a justification for criminal acts. This assertion emphasizes the legal principle that while poverty may be a background factor in some crimes, it does not absolve individuals of their criminal responsibility. Poverty is one of the serious issues facing Indonesian society, and the government and related agencies are implementing various policies and programs aimed at poverty reduction.
