Vietnam's Political System Faces Digital Transformation Progress and Challenges

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam convened a significant meeting to assess the progress of digital transformation (DX) within the political system. The review covered over a year of implementing 'Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW' by the Politburo, acknowledging initial results while also identifying existing bottlenecks that are impeding the realization of stated objectives. General Secretary and President To Lam chaired a specialized session on digital transformation within the political system. He underscored that innovation and digital transformation are vital drivers for propelling the nation into a new era of development. A key focus during the discussions was on enhancing the effectiveness of digital transformation starting from the grassroots level. The Ministry of Justice is actively implementing its '100-day action plan' aimed at resolving bottlenecks in digital transformation. This initiative is expected to contribute to overcoming challenges and accelerating the DX process nationwide. Within Vietnam's one-party political structure, digital transformation is viewed as a critical tool for boosting administrative efficiency, increasing transparency, and improving the delivery of public services. However, challenges such as the uneven development of technological infrastructure across different regions, the need for enhanced digital literacy among officials, and resistance to change within bureaucratic structures are identified as significant hurdles to achieving comprehensive digital integration.
