Kandal Province Strengthens Dengue Fever Prevention and Environmental Protection Measures

The Kandal Provincial Council convened its 28th ordinary meeting of the 4th mandate at the provincial hall, presided over by Mr. Nu Sakhon, President of the Provincial Council, and Mr. Dim Bora, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province. The meeting was attended by members of the Provincial Council, deputy governors, heads of provincial departments and units, and relevant officials. During the meeting, Mr. Nu Sakhon, President of the Provincial Council, sternly instructed the Department of Health and all levels of local authorities to significantly enhance their attention due to the current increase in dengue fever cases. He expressed grave concern for the health of citizens, especially young children, and emphasized the need for widespread health education and public awareness campaigns on preventive measures against mosquito bites and proper household hygiene to prevent dengue fever. He also directed hospitals and health centers to prepare necessary medical equipment and facilities to ensure timely rescue and treatment for dengue fever patients, and to implement abet treatment and fogging operations to kill Aedes mosquitoes, the vectors of dengue fever, in all areas to prevent the disease. He urged citizens to seek immediate medical examination and treatment from specialized medical teams if they suspect dengue fever, and to refrain from self-treatment at home, as delaying treatment can lead to severe complications or even loss of life. Regarding environmental issues, Mr. Kuoch Chamroeun, Governor of Kandal Province, has implemented a new approach, including the installation of security cameras at several locations in various towns and districts to monitor and reflect instances of littering on public roads. Fines will be imposed on citizens who lack sanitation and dispose of waste indiscriminately. Relevant departments and authorities were instructed to continue disseminating information and guidance to raise public awareness and encourage a change in habits, urging people to stop littering randomly. The participation of each citizen in properly disposing of waste is considered a core factor in maintaining a clean environment and social well-being. Mr. Nu Sakhon also proposed that the Department of Agriculture and relevant authorities prepare crop seeds, fertilizers, and technical services to provide immediate intervention for farmers once floodwaters recede. This aims to strengthen and expand agricultural production and handicraft processing potential within the province to meet market demand and substitute imports. Promoting self-sufficiency for citizens and traders will not only create jobs and generate income but also ensure food security and prevent price hikes in the market. Mr. Dim Bora, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, stated that the Kandal Provincial Administration is preparing to install additional security cameras. These will not only focus on waste management but also on traffic safety, public security, and order, in line with the Governor's vision to transform Kandal Province into a belt supporting security, safety, food, and housing. He concluded by stating that these efforts are the result of the hard work of both the departments and the provincial administration to ensure the continuous progress of the province's achievements.
