Phnom Penh, July 27, 2026 -- Minister of Information, H.E. Net Pheaktra, has expressed his sincere admiration and congratulations to Mr. Tiv Tararith for his strenuous efforts and perseverance in cycling across 40 countries, covering a distance of 60,000 kilometers. He successfully completed his historic mission, showcasing the Cambodian national flag and the resilient spirit of the Khmer people on the international stage, while simultaneously engaging in noble charitable activities for Cambodian children. Speaking at a press conference on the conclusion of the 'Cycling for Cambodian Children' mission on the afternoon of July 27, 2026, at the Ministry of Information headquarters, the Minister stated that a single bicycle and sheer physical and mental strength over two years were not merely an adventure, but a 'mission of the heart.' This involved the dedication of Mr. Tiv Tararith's time, physical energy, and spirit during his cycling journey across Asia, Europe, and Africa. The primary objective of this historic mission was to solicit funds to support the Kantha Bopha Foundation and the Angkor Hospital for Children, enabling them to continue their life-saving work for Cambodian infants and children who require free, quality, and equitable medical examination and treatment services. H.E. Net Pheaktra further emphasized that every kilometer and every obstacle Mr. Tiv Tararith overcame was not just a test of his capabilities or a personal journey, but a genuine mission to serve the nation and society. What is particularly valuable and most commendable is his linkage of this sporting mission with the mobilization of funds from philanthropists and partner companies, such as Khmer Beverages and ACLEDA Bank. These funds will significantly contribute to the hospitals in examining, treating, and saving the lives of tens of thousands of Cambodian children free of charge. The Minister highlighted that helping children is investing in the nation's future, and every donation, regardless of size, serves as encouragement and an opportunity for the survival of Cambodian children. Concurrently, in this digital age abundant with diverse information, the media's role is not only to disseminate news but also to create positive value, foster solidarity, and promote humanitarianism in society. Mr. Tiv Tararith's meaningful activity is an excellent example of dedicating physical and mental strength to a social cause, creating hope, and inspiring the general public. It is reported that Mr. Tiv Tararith is a content creator and an adventurous long-distance cyclist undertaking humanitarian activities. He began his fundraising cycling journey on June 9, 2024, departing from Siem Reap with a bicycle adorned with the Cambodian flag, traveling through 40 countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa. After two years, he returned to Cambodia on July 3, 2026, having covered a total distance of approximately 60,000 kilometers and raised over $260,000 USD to support the Kantha Bopha Hospital and the Angkor Hospital for Children.
