Cambodia's Health Minister Emphasizes Dengue Fever Control and Child Safety
Cambodia's Minister of Health visited the Kantha Bopha Hospital, renowned for saving children's lives during the Khmer Rouge regime, emphasizing the importance of dengue fever control and continued focus on child safety. He praised the hospital's technical expertise and patient services, encouraging the transfer of skills to other national hospitals.
On the morning of Monday, July 27, 2026, the Minister of Health visited Kantha Bopha Hospital (Wat Phnom) to inspect the provision of healthcare services and the evolving situation of dengue fever. On this occasion, His Excellency Professor Minister stated, "I am here to inspect and support the robustness and express gratitude to the medical team of this highest hospital for saving children suffering from dengue fever." His Excellency Professor highlighted that Kantha Bopha Hospital is a distinguished hospital, a symbol of saving children's lives in Cambodia, characterized by compassion, excellent quality, and hope. On behalf of the Ministry of Health, he supports the work of Kantha Bopha Hospital by closely collaborating with the hospital and all philanthropists and partners to strengthen and promote the quality of saving and treating children even better, ensuring that every child has the opportunity for quality and effective treatment. During the inspection at Kantha Bopha Hospital, His Excellency Professor Minister observed that the hospital: - Has close partnerships with national and provincial hospitals, facilitating patient referrals for treatment. In summary, His Excellency Professor Minister highly evaluated the hospital, noting that 1) technically, the clinical quality demonstrates accuracy and appropriateness in rescue, dengue fever treatment techniques, managing treatment risks, patient safety, and appropriate medication administration. 2) Regarding healthcare services, there is satisfaction from patient families, and despite a large number of patients, waiting times are short. 3) He urged the hospital to assist in training provincial hospitals to enhance the efficiency of rescuing and treating children with dengue fever. Concurrently, His Excellency Professor advised the National Center for Dengue Fever Control to promote prevention, health education, and the interruption of dengue fever transmission, working in close cooperation with Kantha Bopha Hospital and local authorities.
