Vietnam, France Step Up Cultural Cooperation

Vietnam attaches importance to its relations with France, one of its leading partners in Europe and on the international stage, and wishes to continue close coordination with France to deepen the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a substantive and effective manner, matching the potential, strengths and development needs of both countries in the new period. With more than 30 years of operations in Vietnam, Decathlon plans to continue investing in the country’s industrial ecosystem, working with local suppliers to increase product value while promoting innovation, technical expertise and sustainable development. Vietnam is an important country with significant potential to contribute to BRICS’ development. Over the past year, it has emerged as an increasingly important economy and a notable manufacturing hub, particularly in textiles and garments, electronics and other industries. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam stressed that while the experts work in different fields, they all share a fundamental common view that Vietnam can achieve rapid, sustainable growth and greater self-reliance only by building robust scientific and technological capacity and fully pooling the brainpower of Vietnamese talents at home and abroad. Vietnam and France have called for deeper cooperation in science and technology, as well as for doctoral and supervised master’s training courses to cultivate a generation of Vietnamese scientists able to master quantum technologies. This suggests Vietnam's aim to introduce advanced technologies and enhance domestic development capabilities for economic growth and increased international competitiveness. Economic ties have continued to grow across trade, investment and development cooperation. Bilateral trade surpassed 5 billion USD in the first eight months of 2026, with Vietnam exporting 3.1 billion USD worth of goods to France and importing 1.9 billion USD worth of products from the European country. Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to further deepen comprehensive cooperation with Poland, both bilaterally and multilaterally. The country is determined to effectively implementing high-level commitments and agreements to make bilateral ties more substantive and effective and bring them to a new level. The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Inspection proposed imposing disciplinary action against member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People' Committee of Phu Tho province Nguyen Huy Ngoc during its 12th session in Hanoi on September 11. The Vietnamese community in France, particularly the Vietnamese Association in France, has played a pioneering and active role in strengthening community solidarity and cohesion, promoting Vietnamese culture, maintaining Vietnamese-language teaching and learning among younger generations, and making practical contributions to national development. Vietnam is a crucial member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). For India, Vietnam is an extremely important partner, especially on the multilateral stage. Vietnam's participation in BRICS and strengthening ties with countries like Poland, Mongolia, and South Korea are part of its strategy to diversify diplomacy and increase its global influence.
