Vietnam Communist Party Renews Theoretical Research and Enhances Strategic Forecasting

Vietnam's Communist Party is focusing on renewing its theoretical research institutions and strengthening strategic forecasting capabilities to solidify the nation's development strategies. Recent decisions by the Party Central Committee and directives from General Secretary and President To Lam have consistently emphasized the need to innovate and streamline the organizational structure of theoretical research bodies, alongside enhancing collaboration between research institutions and policy-making/advisory agencies. In line with this direction, the Central Theoretical Council (CLT) has signed a cooperation program with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. This initiative aims to strengthen the bridge between theoretical research and practical policy-making, striving for more effective and pragmatic policy formulation. Furthermore, the CLT convened its first session, discussing the establishment of the council for the 2026-2031 term. Presided over by General Secretary and President To Lam, this meeting announced the Political Bureau's decision to establish the CLT, confirming the council's role and functions for the upcoming term. This move signifies Vietnam's determination to bolster its theoretical foundation and foresight capabilities to navigate a rapidly changing international landscape and address domestic socio-economic challenges within its one-party system. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, it faces geopolitical risks and domestic socio-economic issues. Under these circumstances, the Party's strategy involves reinforcing its theoretical research institutions to enable more accurate strategic decision-making and ensure sustainable national development.
