Hue Celebrates National Day with Vibrant Traditional Boat Race on Huong River

To celebrate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on September 2nd, a traditional boat race was held on the Huong River in the ancient city of Hue. Organized by the Hue City Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the event drew large crowds of local residents and tourists who gathered along both banks of the river to cheer on the participants. This year's race featured 10 boats, with teams representing various localities and organizations competing over a distance of 700-900 meters. The competition was divided into three segments: upstream, midstream, and downstream. Both male and female categories, as well as a mixed-gender category, were included, adding diversity and excitement to the contests. The traditional boat race is a sporting event deeply imbued with the cultural identity of the Hue region. It is held annually on the occasion of National Day, September 2nd, serving as a vibrant cultural and sporting activity that enriches the national holiday.
