Philreca party-list Rep. Presley De Jesus stated that the probe will examine how Meta screens its advertisers, removes scam accounts, and takes down fake and exploitative content. Furthermore, it aims to uncover the platform's responsiveness to complaints from Philippine authorities and its level of cooperation. The resolution explicitly states that if the investigation concludes Meta's online safety measures are ineffective, a complete ban on Meta's operations in the Philippines should be considered. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has pointed out that Meta significantly falls short in cooperating with local authorities and ensuring platform safety for young users compared to other technology companies. "Unlike other technology platforms that have demonstrated meaningful cooperation with authorities and concrete progress in safeguarding users, Meta continues to fall short of its responsibility and commitment to youth safety," the DICT stated, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparent cooperation commensurate with the company's vast reach.
