Noi Bai Airport Implements Dedicated Lanes for Vietnamese Citizens to Expedite Immigration

Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport has implemented dedicated immigration and emigration lanes for Vietnamese citizens starting August 3rd. This initiative is expected to reduce processing times and alleviate congestion. Foreign nationals, priority passengers, and transit passengers are also directed to separate lanes, adopting an efficiency model common in international airports. A representative from Noi Bai Airport stated that the lane segregation helps Vietnamese citizens easily identify their processing areas and reduces waiting times during peak hours. It also optimizes passenger flow in the immigration control area, enhancing the experience for both domestic and international travelers. Previously, multiple passenger groups shared the same queue. If a case encountered documentation issues or required information verification, all subsequent passengers had to wait, diminishing customs clearance capacity. Following the implementation of the new system, some passengers reported that their processing time has been reduced to just 5-10 minutes, and even faster during off-peak hours. Previously, when Vietnamese citizens and foreigners queued together, entry waiting times could extend from 30 minutes to nearly an hour. Vietnamese citizens using passports with embedded chips can utilize automated gates and receive assistance from staff when needed. Since August 3rd, Noi Bai International Airport, in coordination with the Border Guard Police, has organized traffic according to the new method in the domestic terminal T1 and international terminal T2 areas. Specific regulations for pick-up and drop-off locations have been defined for different vehicle groups operating at the airport.
