Efforts underway to facilitate fuel purchases for farmers and MSMEs

Farmers and MSMEs are being given special consideration to ensure they can smoothly purchase the fuel they need, according to Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy U Kyaw Naing Win. This was the response from Deputy Minister U Kyaw Naing Win to a question posed by U Aung Kyaw Min, National Parliament Representative for Constituency No. 4, Ayeyarwady Region, on the 22nd day of the 2nd regular session of the 3rd National Parliament held on July 27. The question asked whether there are plans to issue smart cards to farmers to allow them to legally purchase fuel according to appropriate quotas, and to issue smart cards to MSMEs based on their license information to allow them to purchase fuel. Deputy Minister U Kyaw Naing Win explained that issuing smart cards for fuel purchases to farmers and MSMEs would require significant state expenditure and time for data collection, and therefore cannot be implemented at this time. However, he stated that special attention is being given to ensuring that farmers and MSMEs can smoothly purchase the fuel they need for their businesses. It is understood that the Ministry of Electricity and Energy is working in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation to distribute and sell 8 million gallons of domestically produced gasoline and 7 million gallons of diesel for farmers to use in their cultivation.
