Takeo Province Intensifies Dengue Fever Prevention, Urges Residents to Practice '3 Don'ts, 3 Removals'

The Provincial Department of Health in Takeo Province, Cambodia, is strongly urging residents to rigorously implement the '3 Don'ts, 3 Removals' preventive measures to combat the escalating risk of dengue fever. Dr. Phan Vann, Director of the Provincial Department of Health, accompanied by Dr. Hing Samith, Director of the Prey Kabbas Operational District Health Office, along with the dengue fever program team and local commune/village authorities, led an awareness campaign to prevent, control, and suppress dengue fever breeding sites. This initiative involved spraying insecticides and placing larvicide in water containers to protect residents, reaching 390 households comprising 407 families. The event took place on Tuesday morning, July 22, 2026, in Trapeang Reang Village, Snov Commune, Prey Kabbas District, Takeo Province. During the event, Dr. Phan Vann emphasized that the health and lives of citizens and children are the utmost priority. He stressed that highly effective and robust prevention of dengue fever necessitates the active participation of every citizen through the diligent daily practice of the '3 Don'ts, 3 Removals' measures. The '3 Don'ts' measures were further elaborated as follows: 1. Don't get bitten by mosquitoes by sleeping under a mosquito net and wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants. 2. Don't allow mosquitoes to breed by cleaning and tightly covering water jars or containers. 3. Don't be negligent when having a fever; if experiencing an abnormal fever, immediately transport the patient to a health center or hospital, without self-medicating or administering intravenous fluids. The '3 Removals' measures include: 1. Remove stagnant water by discarding waste such as car tires, cans, or coconut shells that collect water. 2. Remove mosquito larvae by adding larvicide (Abate) or raising colorful fish (e.g., guppies) in jars and water containers. 3. Remove mosquito habitats by clearing bushes and maintaining a clean environment around the house. Residents of Trapeang Reang Village expressed their joy and profound gratitude for the high level of attention paid to their well-being and living safety by the leadership of the Department of Health and the team of specialized medical professionals during this intervention.
