Australian Investors Eye PHL Energy, Infrastructure Projects
An Australian delegation of institutional investors is exploring investment opportunities in the Philippines' energy and infrastructure sectors. The visit, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of diplomatic ties, aims to leverage the investors' A$1.4 trillion in assets under management to contribute to the Philippines' development plans.
An Australian delegation of institutional investors is visiting the Philippines to discuss energy and infrastructure projects, the Australian embassy said. In a statement issued to mark the 80th year of diplomatic ties between the two countries, the embassy said the institutional investors, with A$1.4 trillion in assets under management, will be in the Philippines until Sept. 9. “The Philippines has ambitious plans for infrastructure, energy and economic development. We want to see more Australian investors bringing capital and expertise to help turn those ambitions into reality,” Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown said. The embassy said Philippine business leaders and government officials are meeting representatives from AustralianSuper, IFM Investors, Macquarie Asset Management, Pentagreen Capital and Plenary Group. Export Finance Australia’s Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility, which can deploy up to A$2 billion, is also part of the delegation. “This visit, which brings some of Australia’s leading institutional investors to the Philippines, is another important initiative under Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040,” Mr. Brown said. “We are seeking to facilitate a significant increase in Australian investment in the Philippines.” — Kaela Patricia B.
