Upon arrival at Cho Ray Hospital, the patient's hemodynamic status was unstable. A team immediately initiated extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to support her heart and lungs. Notably, the patient was managed with 'Awake ECMO,' a technique that provides circulatory support while the patient remains conscious, minimizing potential complications associated with mechanical ventilation. After 48 hours of intensive care, the patient's hemodynamic condition stabilized. On June 24, a surgical procedure was performed to remove the pulmonary embolism.
