Hanoi Jazztival 2026 Aims to Expand Vietnamese Jazz Scene

Hanoi is planning to develop the Hanoi Jazztival 2026, scheduled for September 17-19, into a cultural brand with regional and international recognition, aiming to expand Vietnam's jazz scene. The festival, themed “Hanoi Jazz – Music Without Borders,” will be held at various cultural venues across the city, including the Hanoi Opera House, Ly Thai To Garden, Thang Long Theatre, and the Vietnam Women’s Museum. Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed the organizers' ambition to transform the Jazztival into an annual international jazz event, thereby enhancing Hanoi's cultural branding and global reach. This initiative aligns with the broader national effort to implement Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on cultural development, which encourages localities across Vietnam to expand cultural spaces, foster creativity, and link heritage with tourism. The festival also aims to promote Hanoi as an attractive autumn destination, stimulate tourism demand, and contribute to local economic growth. Organizers intend to provide a platform for Vietnamese jazz musicians on an international stage and offer diverse musical experiences to both domestic and international audiences. This expansion of cultural events reflects Vietnam's increasing emphasis on cultural diplomacy and international exchange, alongside its robust economic growth in recent years.
