Cambodian PM Orders Enhanced Quality Control for Medicines and Cosmetics

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has instructed all relevant ministries and institutions to pay the utmost attention to controlling the quality of medicines and cosmetics, such as skin lotions, to prevent health risks to consumers. The Prime Minister's directive was made during the official inauguration ceremony of the Huong Mae Hospital, a specialized cancer treatment hospital located in Prek Sor village, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh, on the morning of September 16, 2026. Prime Minister Hun Manet stated, "We must inspect pharmaceutical products and skin lotions to ensure their quality. Doing so helps both sellers and consumers, as some sellers may not be aware if a product is of good quality or not, or if it poses risks. They are not the manufacturers but rather buyers from others, sometimes purchasing repeatedly online." The Prime Minister emphasized, "Therefore, all relevant ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Commerce, and others, must manage this issue clearly. We cannot allow any company or individual to profit while causing problems to the health of our citizens. Strict responsibility must be taken for the health and lives of consumers."
