Cambodia's Veteran and Retiree Association Holds Administrative and Welfare Training

The Association of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees (A.N.K.) held a training session on administrative and social welfare fund operations on July 27, 2026, in Kampong Cham province. The event was attended by approximately 230 participants, including members of the A.N.K. Central Standing Committee, Kampong Cham Provincial Deputy Governor Touch Poliva, who also serves as the Vice President of A.N.K. Kampong Cham Province, working teams from the provincial, municipal, district, and commune/sangkat secretariats of A.N.K., the head of the Provincial Social Security Fund, and provincial technical officials. Mr. Chhea Sidara, Deputy Secretary-General of A.N.K., stated that following the integration of veterans and retirees into a single association, leadership at various secretariats underwent adjustments, leading to increased and expanded responsibilities at the local level within ministries, institutions, and provincial departments. Consequently, the central leadership of A.N.K. organized specialized personnel to conduct presentations and training on the new structure, focusing on member enrollment, strengthening administrative work, and the social welfare fund operations of A.N.K. This initiative aims to ensure that leaders and working teams at all levels of the A.N.K. secretariats in the province gain a thorough understanding and can implement their duties more effectively to better serve veterans and retirees. Each level of A.N.K. is tasked with conducting direct home visits to manage statistics and maintain lists of all 8,731 veterans and retirees in Kampong Cham province. This will allow for understanding their well-being, fostering closer relationships, and facilitating more rapid and efficient service delivery. Furthermore, the A.N.K. committees at the provincial, municipal, district, and commune/sangkat levels are required to collect data on both veterans and retirees. This information will be compiled into profile books to be kept at the commune/sangkat, district/city, provincial, and central A.N.K. standing committee levels. This will provide a clear understanding of members' needs and facilitate communication. Mr. Chhea Sidara added that to enhance the effectiveness of the association's work and promptly address the challenges faced by veterans and retirees, the working teams of the A.N.K. Committee at all levels in Kampong Cham province must diligently study and understand the presentations on administrative and social welfare fund operations. The training, led by experienced instructors in administration and social welfare funds, is expected to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their roles and provide improved services to veterans and retirees in a timely manner.
