Indonesia's Halal Certification Mandate Gains Support from 48 Nations

Indonesia is steadily advancing towards the mandatory implementation of its Halal Product Assurance system, scheduled to take effect in October 2026. The academic community has voiced appreciation and support for the efforts of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) in this regard. Furthermore, on an international level, it has been revealed that 48 countries have expressed their support for Indonesia's policy of mandatory halal certification. This mandatory halal certification is understood to aim at ensuring consumer trust and fostering the development of domestic industries, given Indonesia's large Muslim population. A wide range of products, including food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, are expected to be covered by this regulation. BPJPH is strengthening its collaboration with domestic and international stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of this system. The support from 48 countries can be seen as an indication of Indonesia's ambition to establish itself as a standard-setter for halal products in the international market.
