Pattaya Buzzes with Tourists During Extended Holiday Period

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya is experiencing a surge in visitors during Thailand’s extended public holiday, with hotels reporting strong occupancy, beaches filling with tourists and Koh Larn welcoming a steady stream of arrivals, providing a significant boost to the city’s tourism economy. A survey conducted on July 29 found large numbers of Thai and international visitors arriving in Pattaya to celebrate the holidays marking Asarnha Bucha Day, Buddhist Lent Day and the birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. Many visitors travelled from Bangkok and nearby provinces, resulting in heavy traffic on the city’s main roads throughout the day. Hotel operators said many properties had been fully booked since the beginning of the month, with demand increasing further after the government announced additional public holidays. Tourism businesses also warned travellers to be cautious of fake social media pages falsely offering accommodation bookings and urged visitors to book only through trusted channels. Passenger traffic to Koh Larn also remained strong throughout the day, with the influx of visitors expected to generate substantial income for tourism operators, restaurants, transport providers and local businesses. Meanwhile, Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet travelled to Parliament to present Pattaya City’s proposed 2027 fiscal budget, outlining funding requests to support the city’s continued development. The proposal covers a wide range of projects, including infrastructure improvements, flood mitigation, transport upgrades, tourism development, public safety initiatives, environmental protection and measures to improve residents’ quality of life. Poramet said the budget request represented more than a financial proposal, describing it as a long-term vision for Pattaya’s future. “Every baht we receive is an opportunity to make Pattaya a better place to live for residents and a higher-quality world-class tourism destination,” he said. He added that the city remains committed to ensuring public funding is invested in practical improvements, including better roads, more efficient public utilities, a cleaner environment and public services capable of supporting Pattaya’s growing tourism industry. City officials said continued investment in infrastructure and tourism facilities will strengthen Pattaya’s competitiveness while supporting sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents in the years ahead.
