Cambodia: Minimum Wage Hike for 2027 Under Discussion as Labor-Employer Talks Intensify

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training in Cambodia has announced the results of the continued meeting of the National Minimum Wage Council to set the minimum wage for 2027. This meeting targets workers in the textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods and bags manufacturing sectors. During the tripartite meeting held on September 14, the majority of labor representatives requested an increase to $225.3 per month. Some also proposed $250.6. Meanwhile, employer representatives asked to maintain the current $210, citing an additional $2.5 already provided in April for commuting expenses. These proposals are not yet final decisions, and further negotiations will take place. To date, a total of five discussions have been held, including two tripartite meetings, two internal meetings by labor representatives, and one internal meeting by employer representatives. All parties involved have professionally and maturely presented their reasons and positions for their respective proposals. To reach a final decision, the tripartite meeting is scheduled to reconvene on the afternoon of September 18.
