Providing Household Solar Systems: 50 households in Inle Region provided under MGC

Under the organizing and coordination of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, a ceremony to transfer and provide household solar systems to 50 households in Kyeizar Kone (North) Village, an earthquake-affected area in the Inle Lake region of Shan State, was held Monday morning at the Shan State Ethnic Affairs and Livelihood Training Center in Aye Thar Yar Town, Taunggyi Township. The initiative was carried out under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) Program, with support from the Government of India as a Quick Impact Project. At the ceremony, Union Minister U Than Maung delivered an opening address, stating that this collaborative effort reflects the existing friendship and strong partnership between India and Myanmar. He also noted that it enhances mutual understanding and trust, and represents a significant practical undertaking. The ceremony also featured speeches by Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe and the Ambassador of India to Myanmar, Mr. Abhay Thakur. Following the speeches, the Union Minister, the State Chief Minister, the Deputy Minister, the Indian Ambassador, and the Minister for Intha Ethnic Affairs presented household solar systems to the 50 households of Kyeizar Kone Village. A local Intha ethnic resident who received the assistance expressed words of gratitude. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials traveled by motorboats to Kyeizar Kone Village in the Inle Lake region to inspect the completed installation of the solar systems. They also had a cordial meeting with the local residents and delivered words of encouragement, it’s reported.
