DPWH Warns Public and Contractors Against Impersonators Soliciting Funds
The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) has issued a warning against individuals impersonating officials to solicit money from contractors and the public, citing cases where the name of the Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineer was misused.
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) on Friday warned the public and contractors against unauthorized individuals misrepresenting the agency. According to the DPWH-NCR, a certain individual is posing as Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineer Ryan Dela Cruz to solicit money from contractors, companies, and the public. “A memorandum from the Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineering Office has clarified that a certain ‘Engr. Allen Delos Santos’ is falsely introducing himself as the Executive Assistant (EA) of the District Engineer, and is claiming to act on behalf of the Office of the District Engineer for personal matters and unauthorized communications,” the agency said in a statement. With this, the agency noted that Dela Cruz already denied authorizing the transactions. “The DPWH maintains strict professional boundaries, and any calls or requests made by this individual are considered fraudulent,” it added. The agency then urged the public to verify identity of those claiming to be DPWH officials and to report suspicious activities to the Office of the Regional Director – Public Affairs and Information Office through (02) 5304-3719; DPWH hotline 165-02; or leave a message through its official social media pages. /mr
