The victim was reportedly visiting her sibling who was receiving medical treatment. The incident is believed to stem from a prior dispute between the victim and the group of suspects.
In Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodian police have arrested five suspects in connection with a premeditated assault that occurred inside a hospital in Serei Sophorn City. The incident took place on the evening of July 28, under the command of the Director General of the Criminal Police Department. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sambath Prommon, Thy Chansorn, Sambath Prommunni, Yiv Lihong, and Eam Banya. A white GTV SOBEN vehicle with license plate 2CD-4972, believed to have been used in the incident, was also seized. The incident reportedly began around 5:00 PM on July 25. A group of approximately 10 unidentified individuals arrived in two vehicles and allegedly attacked Ms. Chan Sreynoch, also known as Pai, who was at the Serei Sophorn Referral Hospital in Prohote village, Ou Ampel commune, to care for her sick sibling. The hospital is located in Serei Sophorn City. The suspects have been handed over to the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police for further legal proceedings. While the exact motive is under investigation, initial indications suggest a personal dispute or prior grievance between the victim and the group of suspects may have led to the assault.
