Kampong Thom, Cambodia - June 30, 2026 -- Major General Som Sun, Commander of the Kampong Thom Military Operations Zone, along with his colleagues, presented 10 million Riel from the Fallen Soldier Support Fund to the family of the late Lieutenant Colonel Puth Sam'an, Deputy Chief of the Medical Unit of the Kampong Thom Military Operations Zone Command. Lt. Col. Puth Sam'an passed away recently due to illness and the exacerbation of old wounds at his home in Thnal Baek Krae East village, Trapeang Reussey commune, Kampong Svay district, Kampong Thom province. Major General Som Sun engaged in a heartfelt conversation with the bereaved family, expressing profound sorrow and sympathy for the loss of a comrade-in-arms with whom he had served for over three decades. He also paid respects by lighting incense and praying for the soul of the deceased to attain peace. On this occasion, Major General Som Sun handed over the 10 million Riel from the Fallen Soldier Support Fund to the family for their necessary daily expenses. Mrs. Hun Sophann, wife of the late Lt. Col. Puth Sam'an, expressed her deepest gratitude to Major General Som Sun, the Commander of the Military Operations Zone, as well as the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the Kampong Military Operations Zone Command. She acknowledged the excellent arrangements made for her husband's funeral and the continuous policy support and financial assistance provided, which have greatly helped in managing the family's livelihood. She also offered prayers for blessings upon all present.
