Vietnam Strengthens Semiconductor Industry Ties with SEMI SEA

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung hosted a reception for President Linda Tan of the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Association (SEMI SEA) in Hanoi, discussing enhanced cooperation for the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry. The Deputy Prime Minister urged member companies of SEMI SEA to seek investment opportunities and expand collaboration with Vietnamese partners to support the growth of the country's semiconductor industry. He also called on SEMI SEA to strengthen policy recommendations, share international experience, and assist Vietnam in participating more actively in the association's activities and in the regional and global semiconductor ecosystem. Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Dung expressed his hope that SEMI SEA would continue to promote Vietnam's image and investment environment to its more than 3,000 member companies and international partners, thereby attracting more high-quality investment projects in the semiconductor sector. He particularly underscored the importance of cooperation in developing high-quality human resources, especially engineers for the semiconductor industry and other emerging technology sectors. In response, Ms. Tan stated that SEMI SEA looks forward to accompanying and supporting Vietnam in realizing its vision for the development of the semiconductor industry. She noted that SEMI SEA will continue to work to enhance Vietnam's links with the global semiconductor community, commending the Government's vision and determination to build an internationally competitive semiconductor industry. Ms. Tan pointed out that Vietnam is emerging as one of Southeast Asia's most attractive destinations for the semiconductor industry, owing to its young and promising workforce, strategic geographic location, and strong aspirations for technological advancement and innovation. She stated that member companies of the association are ready to establish long-term partnerships with Vietnam and engage in dialogue to identify areas where they can support the country's semiconductor industry development. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth and is particularly focused on attracting investment in advanced technology sectors. Amidst complex relations with China, the country aims to leverage the global trend of supply chain diversification and enhance its self-reliance and international competitiveness in strategic fields like semiconductors.
