Vietnamese 'Spider-Man' Goes Viral Online, Open to Promotional Roles

Le Thanh Lam, a 33-year-old man from the central province of Quang Ngai, has gained significant attention on social media for his striking resemblance to actor Tom Holland. Working as a marketing manager in Ho Chi Minh City, Lam became known as the 'Vietnamese Tom Holland' after a video of him eating, posted by his wife, went viral. The video, initially garnering around 300 views on TikTok, saw a surge in engagement, reaching over three million views, 5,000 comments, and thousands of shares within two days. This led to a substantial increase in the couple's social media followers, from 20 to over 12,000. Lam had occasionally been told he looked like a foreigner before, but this was the first time he was compared to Tom Holland. After the video's popularity exploded, he compared his own photos with Holland's and acknowledged a similarity in facial angles and expressions. The viral phenomenon coincided with the global box office success of the latest Spider-Man film. Lam has started being recognized by strangers, a situation he finds both amusing and slightly awkward. He has recently received offers from Spider-Man media outlets to portray the character in promotional activities. Lam is carefully considering these opportunities and is open to trying them. However, he emphasizes that he doesn't want to be solely known for his resemblance to a famous actor and hopes people will also get to know his personality and real life. His wife, 32-year-old Nguyen Thi Thi San, stated that the video was filmed spontaneously without any special preparation.
