Pattaya Maintains Beach Vibe Despite Scattered Showers, Authorities Urge Caution

PATTAYA, Thailand – Rainfall across Pattaya and the eastern region is expected to remain limited on July 20, with the Meteorological Department forecasting scattered thunderstorms in some areas while warning residents and boat operators to remain cautious. The department said Thailand is currently under the influence of a weak southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, the country, and the Gulf of Thailand, resulting in lower rainfall activity nationwide. For the eastern region, including Chonburi and Pattaya, thunderstorms are forecast in around 20% of the area, mainly affecting Nakhon Nayok, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures are expected to range from 25–27°C at night to 33–37°C during the day. Winds along the eastern coastline, including areas near Pattaya, are forecast from the southwest at 15–35 km/h, with waves reaching 1–2 metres. Areas experiencing thunderstorms may see waves higher than 2 metres. Local residents and visitors are advised to stay alert for sudden storms, especially during outdoor activities. Boat operators and tourists travelling to nearby islands, including Koh Larn, should monitor weather conditions and avoid sailing in areas affected by thunderstorms. The Meteorological Department also warned that while rainfall remains limited, thunderstorms can still bring strong winds, rough seas, and sudden changes in weather conditions.
