Vietnam Accelerates Reform and Growth: Focus on AI, Space Tech, and Sustainable Development
Vietnam is driving economic growth and sustainable development through significant investments in AI and space technology, enhancing tourism and education, and fostering national values. The focus extends to national impact and international cooperation.
Vietnam is accelerating institutional reforms to achieve its national targets. Notably, a significant investment of over $500 million USD is being directed towards artificial intelligence (AI) and space technology, with projections of generating annual revenues of approximately $530 million USD and creating around 2,000 local jobs. This initiative underscores Vietnam's strategy to enhance its international competitiveness in digital transformation and advanced technology sectors. Tourism promotion is also a key focus, identified as a potential spearhead economic sector and a new engine for sustainable growth. Phu Tho province, for example, aims to transform its tourism industry through coordinated efforts in planning, infrastructure development, human resource training, and destination branding. In the central region, the development of greener, more sustainable railway tourism ecosystems is expected to expand tourism opportunities and strengthen regional connectivity. In education, Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to gradually make English a second language, focusing on improving teaching quality and creating an English-speaking learning environment. This move aligns with Vietnam's broader goal of fostering global competitiveness and human capital development. Opportunities for knowledge exchange are also being fostered, with a delegation from Hanoi University of Science and Technology attending international forums to share ideas and build bridges through the Vietnam Physical Society. Furthermore, Vietnam is emphasizing the cultivation of its national value system, defining development goals and aspirations through national, cultural, family, and Vietnamese people's standards. This approach reflects the governance philosophy of the one-party system, balancing economic growth with social stability and national cohesion. Addressing societal challenges is also part of the agenda. The community of over six million overseas Vietnamese is recognized as a vital resource for strengthening international friendships and cooperation. Efforts to raise environmental awareness are evident, with Bu Gia Map National Park serving as a hub for wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education. To combat misinformation, a campaign with the message 'Verify Before You Trust' is being promoted, aiming to cultivate critical thinking among the public regarding online information and maintain social stability. Preparations for hosting APEC in 2027 are underway, with the launch of branding and communication strategies. These multifaceted initiatives highlight Vietnam's commitment to increasing its global standing and achieving balanced economic growth and social development. Information source: VietnamPlus English
