Cambodia Holds Workshop to Enhance Rural Road Infrastructure Quality
Cambodia's Minister of Rural Development closed a workshop on experience sharing for the design and quality control of rural road infrastructure. Participants discussed detailed design, development partner-supported projects, and FIDIC contract implementation, aiming to improve infrastructure quality and durability.
H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, presided over the closing ceremony of a workshop on "Sharing Experiences in Detailed Design and Quality Control of Rural Road Infrastructure" held on the afternoon of July 14, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters. The workshop was attended by approximately 250 participants, including ministry leaders, rural road development project leaders, technical advisors, construction contractor representatives, and technical officials from rural development departments in the capital and provinces. In his opening remarks, H.E. Chhay Rithisen expressed gratitude to the leadership, officials, and all workshop participants for their valuable time and contributions. He also commended the organizing team and the speakers for their efforts in sharing expertise on detailed design, implementation, and quality control of rural road infrastructure construction. The Minister emphasized that enhancing the quality and durability of rural road infrastructure is crucial for improving connectivity, ensuring long-term usability, building resilience to climate change, and fostering the integration of economic, social, and cultural activities between rural and urban areas. He further highlighted that based on the vision of the National Policy on Rural Development, the Ministry of Rural Development continues to prioritize the development of high-quality and resilient rural infrastructure. This is considered an indispensable condition for boosting connectivity, ensuring long-term use, and promoting the integration of economic, social, and cultural sectors between rural and urban areas, thereby contributing to improved living standards for rural populations and supporting Cambodia's vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050 under the wise leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
