Cambodian Ruling Party Recruits Over 2,000 New Members, Bolstering Local Organization

The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) announced on July 11, 2026, that it had recruited a total of 2,018 new members from seven villages in Ph'av Commune, Bathay District, Kampong Cham Province. During a meeting with the new members, Mr. Un Chan Da, Chairman of the Kampong Cham Provincial Party Committee, instructed local party officials and the core team in Bathay District to prioritize the mobilization of party members and to provide support and address the needs and issues of party members. He specifically urged them to strengthen coordination with the provision and reception of public services, which are essential for daily life, and to also work on maintaining security, safety, and public order. Mr. Un Chan Da emphasized that building party membership at the local level is a crucial task for the party, and upholding the spirit of accumulating good deeds in all party activities for the benefit of the party and the people will lead to building an even stronger foundation for victory in the 2027 and 2028 elections. He urged them to remember that each party member counts as one vote. During the ceremony, a representative of the new party members pledged to faithfully implement the political platform, statutes, and internal regulations of the Cambodian People's Party. They specifically expressed full support for Prime Minister Hun Manet, as well as party leader Hun Sen, in defending the nation's territorial integrity and sovereignty. This recruitment of new members can be interpreted as part of the Cambodian People's Party's strategy to strengthen its organizational base at the local level and prepare for future elections. Especially as the transition of power from Hun Sen to Hun Manet progresses, consolidating party unity and support at the local level is considered an essential element for stabilizing the government and achieving victory in the upcoming elections.
