Cambodia Conducts Tree Planting Campaign in Svay Rieng Province
The Cambodian Red Cross, Svay Rieng Branch, launched a tree planting campaign, planting 333 saplings to celebrate National Forest Day. The initiative aims to combat climate change and enhance local aesthetics.
The Cambodian Red Cross, Svay Rieng Branch, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, launched a campaign to plant 333 various types of saplings on the embankment of Trapang Thom Community Lake, spanning 1,250 meters in length. This event was held to celebrate National Forest Day, July 9, 2026, under the theme "Forests are the Future of Humanity." The activity was conducted under the direct leadership of Madam Duong Wanna, Honorary President of the branch, along with her working group, and attended by relevant ministries and units under the provincial authority. The tree planting campaign selected saplings that offer long-term benefits for both the environment and aesthetics. These include 100 Beng trees, 50 Thnung trees, 50 Tual trees, and 20 Kokir trees. The objectives of this initiative are not only to help increase forest cover and mitigate climate change but also to transform the local aesthetics into a more pleasant environment and provide benefits to the community in the future.
