VNA to host 59th OANA Executive Board Meeting

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is preparing to host the 59th Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA). This gathering will serve as an opportunity for VNA to strengthen its role in international news sharing and cooperation within OANA. Founded by UNESCO in 1961, OANA brings together 41 news agencies from 35 countries, accounting for two-thirds of the world's news output and serving as a vital platform for news dissemination in the Asia-Pacific region. VNA has been a member of OANA since 1969 and has actively contributed, serving on its Executive Board for four consecutive terms since 2013. A VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the 19th OANA General Assembly held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities. The delegation's participation left a deep impression on attendees. The hosting of this Executive Board Meeting underscores Vietnam's role in international media cooperation. While maintaining a single-party political system, Vietnam pursues economic growth, and fostering information sharing and mutual understanding with the international community is a crucial aspect of its foreign policy. Strengthening international information dissemination capabilities is considered indispensable for safeguarding Vietnam's national interests, especially amidst complex relations with China.
