Cambodia and Belgium Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation in Multiple Sectors

On the morning of August 6, 2026, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, received a courtesy call and held working discussions with His Excellency Michel Parys, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Kingdom of Cambodia, residing in Bangkok, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the long-standing friendship and excellent cooperation between Cambodia and Belgium. They also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including development cooperation, justice cooperation, trade and investment, tourism, and multilateral cooperation. The Belgian Ambassador informed the Deputy Prime Minister about the planned visit of His Excellency Maxime Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, to Cambodia in November 2026 to attend the 20th Francophonie Summit. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in welcoming this visit to Cambodia. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue strengthening and expanding bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as 2027 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Belgium. The Deputy Prime Minister also briefed the Ambassador on recent developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
