Union Minister of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General Nyo Win Swe, stated that over 7.87 billion kyats were seized as public property from 1,041 drug-related cases within Myanmar from 2025 to August 2026. Lieutenant General Nyo Win Swe, who also chairs the Central Committee for the Prevention and Eradication of the Dangers of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, made these remarks at a meeting held at the Ariyandama Hall of the Myanmar Police Force Headquarters on September 16. In 2025, over 4.285 billion kyats were seized as public property from 685 drug-related cases, and this year, over 3.585 billion kyats have been seized as public property from 356 cases up to August. Furthermore, it was stated that 58 drug fugitives who had fled and were evading capture in drug cases within Myanmar from 2025 to August 2026 have been apprehended and are being handed over to the relevant countries. Lieutenant General Nyo Win Swe said that individuals from the Tatmadaw, the Myanmar Police Force, and partner organizations who have made sacrifices in drug suppression operations are being awarded with cash prizes and honorary titles, and additional cash prizes are being awarded under the Anti-Terrorism Law if weapons and ammunition are seized along with drugs.
